Forecasters are monitoring next week’s weather for the chance of snow across the Puget Sound region.
KIRO 7 Meteorologist Morgan Palmer said snow levels will continue to drop lower and lower on Sunday to near 500 feet. It’ll likely be cold enough for snow or rain/snow mix in lowland locations.
“It doesn’t look like a big deal right now,” Palmer said.
If it does snow, Palmer said it’ll be limited to areas in a convergence zone around Snohomish County. Most other areas will see rain showers. Accumulations will be limited to grassy areas.
This weekend last year was the first weekend of the February 2019 snowstorm.
The National Weather Service’s own long-term forecast details the chance of snow between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
“Snow levels will fall drastically through the day, getting to around 2,000 feet by late afternoon and dropping further in the evening and overnight,” said the NWS. “This may give rise to a
rain/snow mix for late Saturday night into Sunday AM in the lowlands, but no potential for any accumulation.”
The NWS did says Monday night into Tuesday morning will be chillier than normal, with lows dropping to near freezing. As precipitation moves back into the region, there is another chance for snow or a rain/snow mix. However, snow levels are expected to quickly rise.
Again, the NWS said, “confidence in any details remains low.”
