
OAKLAND — A 55-year-old woman was in extremely critical condition Saturday after she was struck in West Oakland on Friday night by an SUV driven by a person who fled the scene, police said.
The woman’s name has not been released.
The collision happened about 9:48 p.m. Friday in the 3500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
Police said the woman was crossing the street and was in the northbound lanes when she was struck by a white SUV that was traveling northbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
Police said the driver momentarily stopped before fleeing the scene in the SUV.
A detailed description of the vehicle and driver were not released.
Police said it is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in what happened.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the driver. Anyone with information may call police at 510-777-8570 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
