An 80-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition after drowning in a pool Monday evening, officials said.
The drowning happened at a home near Elliot Road and 44th Street in the Ahwatukee neighborhood of Phoenix, according to Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Captain Kenny Overton.
Bystanders pulled the woman from the pool and performed CPR, and the person who called 911 to report the drowning did not know how long she had been in the pool, Overton said.
Firefighters arrived and the woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
No further information was immediately available.
Earlier on Memorial Day, a 60-year-old man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a possible drowning in Phoenix.
