Press release from the office of State Sen. Kevin Witkos: State Senator Kevin Witkos (R-Canton) is pleased to announce he has been nominated to seek a 7th term as State Senator representing the 8th Senate District. Senator Witkos was nominated unanimously at a virtual convention held on May 18.
"I am honored by the support of the Republican delegates of the 8th District for their faith and trust. Serving as State Senator for the 11 towns of the 8th District is something I take great pride in and I strive to represent the interests of my constituents and respond to their needs to the best of my ability on a daily basis" said Senator Witkos. "As the state of Connecticut continues to respond to unprecedented challenges brought upon by the Covid-19 pandemic, experienced and trusted leadership is more important than ever. I am proud of my reputation of consensus building and common-sense leadership and look forward to continuing to serve the residents of the 8th Senate District."
Senator Witkos currently serves as Deputy Senate Minority Leader and as Ranking Member of the
Finance, Revenue & Bonding committee, Ranking Member of the General Law Committee, member of the State Bond Commission, and member of the Executive & Legislative Nominations committee. He previously served as a State Representative and retired from the Canton Police Department as Sergeant after a 28-year career in law enforcement. He is currently employed by Eversource as a Community Relations Specialist.
The 8th Senate District includes the towns of Avon, Barkhamsted, Canton, Colebrook, Granby (part), Hartland, Harwinton (part), New Hartford, Norfolk, Simsbury and Torrington (part).
