Man in critical condition after being shot in Sparrow Run, police say - The News Journal

A 42-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in his torso in Sparrow Run Monday evening, New Castle County Police said.

Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Kemper Drive at 7:15 p.m. after receiving reports of a man lying in the road, police said.

When police arrived, they found the victim shot in the torso. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

At least a dozen evidence markers were clustered in the street and front yard of a house at the scene.

Police blocked vehicle access in and out of the neighborhood for about 30 minutes after the shooting.

Detectives ask anyone with information or video of the shooting to contact Det. Christopher Rau at christopher.rau@newcastlede.gov or call (302) 395-8110. Tipsters can also send information anonymously by texting the number 847411 with the keyword NCCDE.

Police said more information will be released as it becomes available.
