Four more cases of COVID-19 were reported in Escambia County long-term care centers overnight, and one additional case was confirmed in a Santa Rosa County retirement community, bringing the total number of cases in local facilities to 74.
Six deaths in Escambia County have been either staff or residents of long-term centers. Santa Rosa County does not have any reported deaths in long-term care.
A total of 14 people — eight in Escambia and six in Santa Rosa — have died since the start of the outbreak. In Santa Rosa County, four of those deaths have been confirmed as inmates of the Blackwater River Correctional Facility, a Milton prison with 48 COVID-cases (38 inmates and 10 staff) as of Saturday morning.
With about 500 more cases counted, Florida now has 25,996 cases and 764 deaths, as 16 additional deaths were counted overnight, according to the latest report from the Florida Department of Health.
Long-term care center cases up to 64 in Escambia County, 10 in Santa Rosa
Since Saturday night, four new cases of COVID-19 have been identified at Escambia County long-term care centers as the total climbed to 64. Santa Rosa County reported one new case Sunday, bringing the total to 10.
The state on Saturday evening released the names of the facilities dealing with outbreaks, including 11 in Escambia County and one in Santa Rosa County. While the report does not list how many cases are at each facility or whether they are among staff or residents, it offers the first look at how the virus has spread at local nursing homes, retirement communities and rehabilitation centers.
In Escambia County, the following centers have reported positive COVID-19 cases:

- De Luna Health and Rehabilitation Center
- Homestead Village Retirement Community
- Olive Branch Health and Rehabilitation Center
- Rehabilitation Center At Park Place

- Southern Oaks Care Center
- Specialty Health and Rehabilitation Center
- Westpointe Retirement Community Inc.
The report names just one facility in Santa Rosa County, the Arbors Of Gulf Breeze, where it appears that 10 cases of COVID-19 have been reported.
Nearly 23% of the COVID-19 deaths in the state are tied to long-term care centers. As of Sunday morning, there were 1,785 cases and 175 deaths in long-term care centers.
Escambia and Santa Rosa counties report 447 cases
Positive COVID-19 cases reported in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties Sunday morning rose to 447, an overnight increase of 10.
Since Saturday evening, five more cases were identified in Escambia County to bring the total to 309. Pensacola now has 243 cases, up from 238 Saturday night (one of the cases previously reported with a missing city location was confirmed as a Pensacola resident). Cantonment added one more case to reach 35
Santa Rosa County's cases also increased by five, with four new cases reported in Milton (74) and one new case in Pace (10). The county now has 138 cases.
Testing and hospitalizations
Statewide, 3,766 people who have tested positive for COVID-19 have required hospitalization at some point, though that number does not reflect the current number of patients in the hospital. Forty-five people — 28 in Escambia and 17 in Santa Rosa counties — have been hospitalized because of COVID-19.
Seven percent of the 6,611 people tested in both Escambia and Santa Rosa counties have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the state.
