Woman reported in critical condition after near drowning in pool - What's New LaPorte?

Emergency responders were dispatched to a La Porte home in the 1000 South block of Marquette Street, near 18th Street, regarding a near drowning Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 10. The call came in shortly after 3 p.m. reporting that a female in her 60s was found unresponsive in a pool behind the home.

An off-duty police officer was the first to arrive and assisted family members, who had pulled the woman from the pool, with CPR. La Porte County EMS and Scipio Township firefighters responded, as did officers from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office and La Porte Police.

The woman was transported to Northwest Health – La Porte and was listed in critical condition as of Tuesday evening.

Scipio Township Fire Chief Eric Fenstermaker credited family members and first responders for quickly starting life-saving measures.
