Philadelphia Phillies minor-leaguer Daniel Brito is in stable condition and is undergoing further medical testing, the team said, three days after collapsing in the first inning of a Triple-A game on Saturday.
Brito had a second surgery Sunday morning after first undergoing surgery Saturday night following what the team called a "medical emergency" during Triple-A Lehigh Valley's game in Rochester, N.Y. Brito was taken to a nearby hospital after he collapsed and the game was suspended. Sunday's game was also postponed.
In a statement, the Phillies said Brito is with his girlfriend and his mother, who arrived from Venezuela. The 23-year-old has been in the Phillies' system since 2015.
