SAN ANTONIO – A 37-year-old man is being treated in a hospital for a gunshot wound in his chest that he says he suffered after answering a knock on his door.
San Antonio police found the victim inside his home in the 4100 block of El Paso Street around 3 a.m. Thursday.
They say he told them he opened his front door after someone knocked on it, then found a man who asked him for money.
The victim says when he told the man he didn’t have any money the man forced open the door, pulled out a gun and pulled the trigger.
Police say the victim was hit in his chest and was in critical condition as he was rushed to a hospital.
The shooter ran off before police arrived.
They say the only description they had is that he was wearing a dark shirt.
Officers searched the area but did not find him.
