QUINCY, Mass. — As a teen remained in critical condition after being pulled from a Dedham pool Sunday, hours later another teen was pulled from a beach in Quincy, police said.
The condition of the 19-year-old man pulled from the water at Mound Street Beach in Quincy was unknown Sunday afternoon.
Around 2:15 p.m., Quincy Police received a report of a person who who had entered the water at Mound Street Beach and had not resurfaced.
The victim was sent by ambulance to South Shore Hospital.
Police said multiple agencies responded immediately to the beach area, and two civilian divers happened to be nearby.
Sunday’s incidents in Quincy and Dedham occurred as the region is seeing a spate of drownings in recent weeks.
On Saturday, a 68-year-old Bridgewater man drowned in a Plymouth pond.
On Friday, Worcester Police Officer Emanuel ‘Manny’ Familia died while trying to save the life of Troy Love, 14, who also drowned, from a local pond.
On May 27, a 39-year-old Quincy man drowned at Houghton’s Pond in Milton while trying to retrieve a soccer ball that had gone into the water.
On May 26, a 16-year-old boy died after police said he drowned in a pond in Framingham.
And on May 15, two boys, ages 12 and 13, drowned in a pond at D.W. Field Park in Brockton.
