A Passaic County man was in critical condition after being shot Friday night in Paterson, officials said.
Just before 9 p.m. Friday, Paterson police officers responded to 9th Avenue and Madison Avenue in the city for a reported robbery, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said in a statement. When officers arrived, they found a 31-year-old city man suffering from a non-fatal gunshot wound, according to the statement.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, and is in critical condition as of late Saturday morning, according to the statement.
No information on any suspects, arrests or additional victims was released at the time.
Police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to call the prosecutor’s office tips line at 1-877-370-PCPO or email tips@passaiccountynj.org. Tipsters can also call the Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
