A 24-year-old man was in critical condition Saturday after he was shot while sitting in the driver’s seat of a car in Paterson, authorities said.
The man was shot about 10 p.m. Friday in the area of Summer Street and Broadway, according to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora.
Valdes said in a statement that a person “approached the vehicle and fired,” seriously wounding the driver. Officers responding to a reports of shots fired found the man, according to police.
The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, where he remained critical on Saturday.
