Jenny Brekhus has won a third term as Reno City Council member representing Ward 1. With 24,014 votes counted, Brekhus narrowly edged out challenger JD Drakulich by 82 votes, .003 percent of the vote. As Reno City Council members are limited to three terms in office, this will be Brekhus’ final term.

The Washoe County Registrar of Voters Deanna Spikula presented the final election results to Washoe County Commissioners today.

Newly-elected Reno City Council members will be sworn in this afternoon.

“I am grateful to Ward 1 voters that are sending me back to the Council for another 4 years to focus on our neighborhoods and our city’s general direction,” Brekhus wrote in an email regarding her victory.  “I am appreciative to all who helped me in this people powered campaign that despite my incumbency status, was always an underdog.  I congratulate JD Drakulich on being a formidable opponent.  I look forward to working with the Mayor, my Council colleagues and new City Manager Thornley to move our community forward in this critical period.”
