MONROE COUNTY, MI - A 25-year-old Monroe resident is in critical condition after crashing his car into a boulder and utility pole early Sunday morning in Ash Township, according to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash was reported at roughly 1:22 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, according to the release. A preliminary investigation suggests the man was driving west on Ready Road when “for unknown reasons” the car left the road and entered a ditch, then striking a boulder and utility pole. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Police believe speeding and “intoxicating substances” were factors in the crash. The sheriff’s office is still investigating the incident and asked anyone with information to call (734) 240-7541.
