A hiker was bitten by a snake near Otay Mountain Truck Trail and flown to a hospital in critical condition Sunday, authorities said.
The hiker, whose gender and age were not immediately available, had been with a group of four others off the off-road trail in Dulzura, Cal Fire Capt. Thomas Shoots said.
The U.S. Border Patrol called out to Cal Fire to assist with the rescue about 5:50 p.m. Cal Fire rescuers aboard a sheriff’s helicopter hoisted the hiker and took the injured person to a hospital for treatment, Shoots said.
An update on the hiker’s condition and other details were not immediately available.
