Sisters rescued from Lake Michigan, one in critical condition - MLive.com

ST. JOSEPH, MI -- A woman remains in critical condition after first responders rescued her and her sister from Lake Michigan on Sunday.

Officers from the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety were dispatched to Lions Park Beach at 4:39 p.m. for a water rescue in Lake Michigan.

Two sisters from Illinois, aged 29 and 32, struggled to get out of deep water. Several bystanders witnessed and assisted with the incident, police said.

The sisters were transported to Spectrum Health Lakeland where the 29-year-old was treated and released. The 32-year-old is still in critical condition.

The St. Joseph Department of Public Safety said it plans to provide updates on the condition of the 32-year-old female.
