AVON — A 20-year-old man was in critical condition in St. Cloud Hospital after being pulled from Middle Spunk Lake Saturday afternoon.
The Stearns County Sheriff's Office said in a news release deputies responded to the lake in Avon for a report of a possible drowning about 3:42 p.m. after a male went missing in the swim area.
A Stearns County Sheriff’s sergeant arrived first on scene and entered the water to try to locate the male. Additional deputies, Avon Police and Avon Fire and Rescue arrived to assist.
Eventually, a diver from the office's water patrol unit brought the male to shore and life-saving efforts were initiated. The male was airlifted the male to the hospital where he remained in critical condition.
No more information was available Saturday night.
