A child hit by a vehicle last week remains at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland and is listed in fair condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.

A report from Roseburg Police said on July 1st at about 5:30 p.m. the 4-year old boy was riding his scooter down his driveway on Northeast Cummins, just off of Diamond Lake Boulevard. The child was hidden from view by shrubs and bushes. When the boy rode out onto the roadway, a female driver didn’t see him and he was struck by the front passenger tire of the vehicle.

The report said the boy’s leg was pinned between the tire and his scooter, as his leg was run over. Interviews and witness statements said the driver’s speed was estimated to be 15 miles per hour.

The boy had extensive injuries to his leg according to the report.
