OAKLAND — A 22-year-old woman was in grave condition after she was shot early Thursday morning while sitting in a vehicle parked on a cul-de-sac next to Lake Merritt, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 12:50 a.m. in the 1400 block of Lakeshore Avenue, a cul-de-sac lined by apartment buildings that has seen prior violence. The woman was in a vehicle parked on the west side of the street facing the lake.

Police said the woman, who lived in another part of Oakland, was shot by someone outside the vehicle but investigators have not yet determined if the shooter was on foot or in a vehicle.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation.  No arrests have been made.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3821 or 510-238-7950 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.

The cul-de-sac has been the site of other shootings this year.

On May 8 four people were shot in the 1400 block about 3:20 a.m.. A woman and three men, all from other cities, were the victims in that shooting which police continue to investigate and have not made any arrests. No one suffered fatal wounds in that shooting.

And about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday a woman was robbed and shot in the leg in the 1200 block of the street. The woman was able to get her own transportation to a hospital and was in stable condition. No arrests have been made in that case.

Authorities do not believe the previous shootings are connected to the one Thursday morning..
