Layton Police said a Layton High School student was hit by two cars near the school Tuesday morning and is in "very serious condition."

The 15-year-old girl was walking to school on Wasatch Drive when she was hit at approximately 7:00 a.m.

At the time of the crash, police said it was dark and very wet on the roadways.

They said two cars traveling northbound hit the student. The first car pulled over and contacted police, the second driver did not see her in the road.

Police arrived on the scene and had to extricate the student from underneath the second car. She was taken to McKay Dee Hospital in "very serious condition."

The student lives in the area and was on her way to school, walking eastbound.

Police have spoken to at least one witness and both drivers are cooperating.

Northbound Wasatch Drive was closed for a few hours during the investigation. All lanes have since been reopened as of 9 a.m.
