OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – A 21-year-old driver was seriously injured in a crash Monday evening after he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and drove into oncoming traffic, crashing into two cars, police say.
Three cars were involved in the crash, which happened at 6:14 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at Cottonwood Drive near Bauer Road in Georgetown Township, according to a news release from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
The 21-year-old male was driving south on Cottonwood Drive in a 2017 Infiniti when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and crossed the center line, police said. He crashed into two northbound vehicles – a 2012 Honda in the left lane and a 2009 Toyota in the right lane, according to the release.
No one in the Honda was injured in the crash, police said. The driver of the Toyota, a 35-year-old woman from Jenison, sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the Infiniti was pinned inside his vehicle during the crash and had to be extricated by the Georgetown Fire Department, according to the release. The 21-year-old was transported to an area hospital to be treated for serious injuries from the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, police said.
The passenger in the Infinity, a 21-year-old man from Novi, sustained minor injuries and sought treatment privately, according to the release.
