A pedestrian was sent to hospital in serious condition after being struck in a hit-and-run collision in the middle of downtown Mission this morning (Sept. 21).
Mission RCMP were called to the intersection of 1st Avenue and Horne Street at 10:41 a.m., for reports of a woman being struck by a Grey Dodge pickup truck, said Cpl. Jason Raaflaub, media officer for the department.
He said the woman was using a designated crosswalk and the truck immediately took off after the impact.
The injured woman was reportedly in and out of consciousness and taken to Abbotsford Regional Hospital, Raaflaub said, and RCMP members are still at the hospital.
BC Emergency Health Services confirmed the woman was transported to hospital in serious condition.
The Mission RCMP has obtained CCTV footage of the truck, Raaflaub said, and the Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Service will likely take the file.
At least three RCMP vehicles and police tape still cordoned off a section of the road at 12 p.m. today.
The road has been closed in both directions, according to DriveBC.
CLOSED – #BCHwy7 in both directions at Horn St in #MissionBC due to a vehicle incident, assessment in progress, please avoid the area and consider an alternate route. Expect major delays and congestion in the area. #FraserValley #Aggasiz
