MEDFORD, Ore. — The Medford Police Department is still investigating a shooting that took place in the parking lot of Fichtner-Mainwaring Park on Tuesday night as two victims remain in serious condition, one with a head wound.
Officers and medical personnel were dispatched to reports of the shooting along Holmes Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. First responders arrived to find one victim unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. An ambulance crew took him to a local hospital, and MPD said that nobody else remained at the scene.
Two other victims were taken to local hospitals by a "private party," Medford Police said, both of them suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim suffering from the head wound, a 19-year-old male, was life-flighted to Portland where he was last listed in serious but stable condition. A 20-year-old male had been shot in the torso and remains in serious but stable condition at a local hospital, MPD said. The last, another 20-year-old male, had been shot in the legs but left a local hospital "against medical advice."
"Currently, no suspects are in custody," MPD said. "Detectives believe the involved parties knew each other and were involved in a dispute. There is evidence of several rounds being fired by multiple different weapons."
The case remains under investigation.
