One of the game's premier young quarterbacks could be in for a big day — but it may not happen anytime soon.
As first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, Lamar Jackson is focused on the upcoming season at hand rather than signing a longterm extension with the Ravens, though he described the talks as "positive and ongoing."

The 32nd overall pick in 2018, Jackson is in the fourth and final year of his rookie deal but is under contract to the team until next season after the Ravens picked up his $23 million team option, which kicks in next year.

A unanimous MVP selection in 2019 and a Heisman Winner during his time at Louisville, Jackson will negotiate his forthcoming deal himself and not use an agent, according to ESPN.
Other notable players who negotiated their own deals recently include DeAndre Hopkins, Richard Sherman and Bobby Wagner.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen, also taken in the first round in 2018, inked a new deal this offseason for six years and $258 million, a going rate of $43 million a year before incentives. Jackson is slated to make just $1.77 million in base salary this year.
Jackson's 30 wins since taking over as the Ravens' starter midway through 2018 are the most in that span, and he's the first player in league history to accrue 5,000 passing yards and 2,500 rushing yards in their first three seasons.
