Syracuse, N.Y. — A man in his 30s is in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital after he was shot multiple times in the stomach in the 2500 Block of Midland Avenue, police said.

Officers were responding to a call about a loud fight at about 11:16 p.m. at 2505 Midland Ave. when they found the man, Syracuse police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Malinowski said in a news release.

A 911 caller also reported hearing multiple shots fired in the area, according to Onondaga County 911 Center dispatches.

Several bullet casings were found at the scene, Malinowski said.

An ambulance and several Syracuse police cruisers were parked near the intersection of Midland and West Calthrop avenues.

The ambulance was later seen speeding away from the scene.

Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call the Syracuse Police Department at 315-442-5222.
