MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – A section of Seminole Road will undergo multiple short-term full road closures Monday and Tuesday.
Eastbound Seminole between Park and Henry streets in Norton Shores remains closed for construction. However, westbound Seminole also will close at various locations between Park and Henry for short periods, according to a notice from the Norton Shores Police Department.
Closures will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, June 21, and Tuesday, June 22. Each closure will last 15 to 20 minutes, according to the notice. Motorists are advised to use Norton Avenue as a detour.
The ongoing $2 million construction project is part of an effort to beautify that “entry point” into the city of Norton Shores and make it more pedestrian friendly.
The work involves road reconstruction, storm sewer, sanitary sewer repairs, water main, traffic loop detectors, concrete curb and gutters, concrete sidewalks with ramps and decorative lighting.
The construction is expected to last through August.
Next summer, plans are to reconstruct Seminole from Park Street to Seaway Drive.
The project is expected to cost $2.1 million and will be paid for using grant money recently awarded to the city by the Michigan Department of Transportation. It will be completed in two phases by 2022.Courtesy of Google.com
