DUNDEE, Mich. (WTVG) - One person is in critical condition following a crash on US-23 in Dundee, Michigan that shut down a portion of the highway for hours Thursday.
A tractor-trailer crashed on northbound US-23 just south of Ida West Road. It went off the side of the road into a ditch where it struck trees and caught fire, according to Michigan State Police. Authorities are still investigating what caused the vehicle to go off the road.
The driver was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
Michigan State Police and the Summerfield Township Fire Department responded to treat the driver and put out the flames.
Authorities are asking witnesses to contact the Monroe Post of the state highway patrol at 734-242-3500.
