ALBANY - A Guilderland man was sentenced Friday to 25 years in prison after admitting to sexually exploiting a child, federal authorities said.
Blake Spears, 40, of Westmere admitted that on Dec. 1, 2018, he masturbated while standing over a sleeping child and recorded himself doing so, Acting U.S. Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon and FBI Special Agent Thomas Relford said in a statement.
Spears also admitted that he used a phone messaging app to distribute “videos depicting the sexual abuse of other children,” the Justice Department officials said.
In addition to 25 years in prison, Judge Mae A. D’Agostino imposed a 20-year term of supervised release on Spears, "a repeat and dangerous sex offender," the officials said, and ordered him to pay $8,000 in restitution to those “whose abuse was depicted in images that Spears possessed,” according to the authorities.
