ANTIOCH — Two young men are in critical condition after being shot in a drive-by shooting in Antioch on Tuesday morning, and the person or people behind the shooting are at large, police said.

Around 11:15 a.m., Antioch Police said officers were sent to the 2100 block of Aspen Way after a report of a person that was shot in the street.

“Numerous officers responded” and found a sedan stopped in the street with several bullet holes in it, police said in a statement Tuesday, but the vehicle had no one in it.

Police said officers learned that the car had been occupied by two men who were wounded in the shooting and fled to a nearby home. The suspect or suspects responsible for the shooting fled the area in a car and were not located, police said.

The men who were shot are ages 21 and 22, and both were transported to local hospitals, one by ambulance and the other by helicopter, police said.

The 21-year-old man is in “critical but stable” condition, police said, while the 22-year-old man is in critical condition.

“The victims in this case appear to have been targeted” by the shooter or shooters, police said.

Police said the investigation is still active, and detectives are working to identify any suspects or persons of interest.

Police encouraged anyone with information on the shooting to call the Antioch Police Department non-emergency line at 925-778-2441, or use the text-a-tip line by sending a message to 274637, using the key word Antioch.
