Two people were transported to a hospital on Sunday night after a fight in an American Canyon Safeway store turned into a stabbing incident.
At approximately 5:40 p.m., American Canyon police officers were dispatched to a report of a disturbance, with one customer harassing other customers, at the Safeway store on West American Canyon Road, according to a press release. As officers responded, the incident escalated to a physical fight. Officers were able to quickly identify the two parties involved in the fight and noted that they both had stab wounds.
The scene was made safe and the suspects were handcuffed. Officers applied bleeding control first aid while paramedics responded and took over medical care. One suspect was transported to Kaiser Permanente Medical Centerl in Vallejo and the second was transported to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa. They are both in stable condition.
The same Safeway was in the news last month when 23-year-old Christopher Young was arrested after he was suspected of fatally shooting Safeway worker and 18-year-old Nathan Garza on Aug. 16. Young will face murder, burglary and other charges following his arraignment in Napa County Superior Court.
Detectives from the Napa County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Bureau responded to continue the investigation. Any eyewitness who has not been interviewed is asked to contact ACPD at (707) 253-4451.
