West Monroe, N.Y. — A 61-year-old man died Sunday after a motorcycle he was operating collided with a UTV in Oswego County on Saturday evening, according to state police.
Edgar D. Sardella was pronounced dead at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse after the crash, state police said in a news release Sunday night.
Cynthia A. Sardella, 63, a passenger on the motorcycle, is in critical conduction at Upstate University Hospital, the release said. The couple are from West Monroe.
Arthur P. Gearsbeck, 77, of Central Square, was traveling west on county Route 84 in West Monroe on a 2014 Polaris Ranger UTV at about 4:40 p.m. when he started to turn onto Dutch Road.
He turned into the path of the motorcycle that was traveling east on Route 84, police said. The two vehicles collided.
The Sardellas were thrown from their motorcycle.
The Sardellas were transported in critical condition to the hospital, state police said. Edgar Sardella died Sunday, police said.
Gearsbeck was treated at the scene and released.
The investigation is continuing, state police said.
