ST CLAIR COUNTY, MI – A 16-year-old male is in critical condition after a crash Thursday afternoon.

The 16-year-old Casco Township boy was driving a 2000 GMC Sierra west on Puttygut Road near Mayer Road around 2 p.m., Sept. 24, a news release from the St Clair County Sheriff’s Office said.

The teenager lost control and ran off the road, into a ditch, where the pickup hit a culvert. The truck then overturned, police said.

The driver was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he’s in critical condition. A 15-year-old passenger from China Township had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, police said.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation. The St. Clair County Accident Reconstruction Team is working on the investigation.
