Multiple fire departments worked together in response to a house fire Saturday morning. The homeowner was rescued from inside and taken to the hospital, though their condition is unknown. The fire is under investigation.
According to a Facebook post, at approximately 8:51 a.m. Masonville Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a possible structure fire in the 5100 block of Old Hartford Road near Georgia Lane.
“Masonville Chief 404 arrived to find a single-story residence with heavy smoke conditions and fire showing from the bravo side of the home,” according to the post. “A working fire assignment was given and soon after crews from Daviess County Fire Department Engines 331 and 301 arrived and were able to quickly knock down the fire.”
Before the arrival of dispatched emergency crews, an off-duty lieutenant from the Owensboro Fire Department was in the area when they noticed smoke across the street and went to investigate, according to the post.
“During this time the lieutenant and a passerby were able to make entry into the home and rescue the homeowner who was still inside the residence,” the post reads.
The homeowner was then treated and transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital by AMR Ambulance. The condition of the homeowner was unknown at the time of the post.
Emergency crews were on scene for approximately 2 hours.
Other agencies responding included the Thruston-Philpot Fire Department, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Kenergy, and Atmos Energy.
