Driver flees 2-vehicle crash, leaving 1 person in critical condition - MLive.com

ONTONAGON COUNTY, MI – Alcohol and drugs are believed to be “significant factors” in a two-vehicle crash that left one person critically injured while another fled the scene on Saturday, Oct. 2, police said.

Michigan State Police troopers from the Wakefield Post are investigating the crash, which occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday on US-45 near Military Hill in Ontonagon County.

Upon arrival, troopers found two damaged vehicles and one person who was in critical condition. They were transported to UP Health Systems in Marquette for treatment and remain in critical condition. A second person is believed to have fled into the woods. The area was searched but the person was not located.

The incident remains under investigation. MSP is being assisted by the U.S. Forest Service, Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office.
