MADISON, Wis. — Madison police say a 62-year-old man is in critical condition after trying to break up a fight at Players Sports Bar on the city’s east side.
The Madison Police and Fire Departments were called to the bar just after 2 a.m. Friday. Officers found the 62-year-old man unconscious with a head wound, and learned a 39-year-old man had left the scene.
The man who was knocked unconscious was taken to the hospital and is in criticial condition, but is considered stable.
Witnesses told police he tried to intervene in an ongoing argument at the bar and was hurt in the process. Police do not believe any weapons were used in the attack, but their investigation into the incident is ongoing.
As of now, the 39-year-old suspect has not been arrested. Police have not yet released any additional information about the suspect.
