RED BLUFF — A shooting in the 900 block of Hickory Street early Monday morning left a man hospitalized in critical condition.
The Red Bluff Police Department got a call around 1:30 a.m. Monday reporting a gunshot followed by someone yelling, according to a press release issued Monday by the department.
Officers made their way to the scene to find a 32-year-old man, identified as a transient in the release, on the ground with a gunshot wound to the stomach area.
According to the release, the man couldn’t describe the suspect or the incident to the officers due to his declining physical state from the wound. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital and was in critical condition as of 6:30 a.m. Monday.
Officers turned up evidence at the scene that implied the shooting was an “isolated incident” and there was no evidence to suggest the public might be in danger.
“This is an ongoing investigation and anyone that has information on the shooting is asked to contact the Red Bluff Police Department at (530) 527-3131,” the release said.
