FLINT, MI – A man is in critical condition after he was hit by a Flint police cruiser that was responding to a call Wednesday morning.
The officer was responding after 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, to a domestic assault with weapon/possible shooting call when the cruiser collided with a bicycle in the area of Corunna Road and Court Street.
Flint Police Detective Sgt. Tyrone Booth told MLive-The Flint Journal that the bicyclist was transported to Hurley Medical Center and listed in critical condition following the incident.
The officer was not injured. The officer will not be placed on leave, Booth said.
As the incident involved an officer, Michigan State Police has been asked to conduct the investigation.
Michigan State Police Sgt. Joe Rowley confirmed the agency is handling the crash investigation, but no additional details were immediately available.
