Long-term care facilities in McHenry County have experienced 371 COVID-19 cases and 69 deaths in total as of Friday, according to numbers put out by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Across the state, 20,550 cases have been reported, with 3,433 deaths, in these facilities.
According to the McHenry County Department of Health, long-term care facilities are required to immediately report any COVID-19-like illness among residents and staff to their local health departments. These numbers then are reported from the local health department to the IDPH.
Long-term care facilities and local health departments will have the most up-to-date data on case numbers, IDPH officials said.
The reported numbers include residents and staff.
Alden Terrace in McHenry, which for weeks has had the highest number of cases of any long-term care facility in the county, had 75 cases and 11 deaths as of this week. However, while the number of deaths has remained stagnant, Alden Terrace actually reported three fewer cases at its facility on Friday than it did last week, when it had 78.
