SAN ANTONIO – A 17-year-old is dead and a man is in critical condition after gunfire erupted on the city’s West Side late Monday night.
Officers were called around 9:30 p.m. to the intersection of South Zarzamora and Aztec Alley after receiving reports of a shooting.
According to police, the 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old friend got into an altercation with a man in his 50s just before the shots were fired.
The 17-year-old was shot and killed, police said. The man in his 50s, also wounded, was taken to University Hospital by EMS. The name of the teen has not been released.
Investigators say the second teen was taken into custody for questioning, but he has not been cooperative with officers.
The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all answered the call.
A motive for the shooting is not currently known.
