A 55-year-old motorcyclist from Rolling Meadows was rushed to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge after being struck by a Toyota Highlander exiting a private drive onto Meacham Road near Biesterfield Road after 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8.

Elk Grove Village police said the 42-year-old female driver from Schaumburg was exiting onto Meacham at 12:41 p.m. when she struck the man on the motorcycle north of Biesterfield.

The man on the bike suffered serious injuries, police said, and was taken to Lutheran General, a Level 1 trauma center, rather than Alexian Brothers, a Level 2 trauma center, located on Biesterfield Road in Elk Grove Village a short distance away.

Southbound lanes of Meacham north of Biesterfield were closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation and reconstruction of the crash.

Elk Grove Village police officials said Monday charges were pending but had yet to be filed as the accident remained under investigation.
