BRIDGEPORT — A city woman was in critical condition Friday after she slammed her vehicle into the wall of the train station Thursday night, police officials said.
At 9:48 p.m., Bridgeport’s Emergency Operation Center got a call about a vehicle that crashed into the wall of the train station at the intersection of State and Water streets, according to Sgt. Gabe Meszaros.
Police, medics and fire units responded to the crash. The driver had to be extricated.
Meszaros said a 33-year-old Bridgeport woman was driving a 2012 Buick Verano east on State Street “at a high rate of speed.” When she came up to the intersection at State and Water streets, Meszaros said, “she continued straight without braking or turning and then crashed into the wall of the train station.”
Moments before that crash, Meszaros said, the woman was involved in another collision near State Street and Iranistan Avenue where she rear-ended a vehicle and fled the scene. The license plate of the victim’s vehicle got embedded in the woman’s vehicle, dislodging when she crashed into the wall by the train station, Meszaros said.
The 33-year-old was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with serious injuries. Meszaros said she was listed in critical condition Friday.
Traffic Division Officer Keith Ruffin is leading the investigation.
