ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A teenager is in critical condition after a shooting in Rochester late Wednesday night.
A confrontation between two groups appears to have led to two people getting shot, the Rochester Police Department said. There were likely up to six people involved.
The confrontation happened around 9:15 p.m. in the parking lot of the Heritage Manor Apartment Complex in the 2400 Block of 18 1/2 Avenue NW.
Police do not believe any of the people involved live at the apartment complex. Police said it appears the groups had agreed to meet there.
Officers found a 19-year-old from Rochester lying in the road when they arrived in the area of 18 1/2 Avenue NW and 22nd Street NW. He had suffered a gunshot wound in the upper part of his body, according to police.
Police said the man was "alive and talking with officers" before being transported to Mayo Clinic Saint Marys hospital.
As of Thursday morning, the victim is in critical condition, according to police.
Shortly after dispatch received calls about the first shooting victim, a woman living in the 500 Block of 3rd Street NW called saying her 17-year-old son had been shot.
Police said it appears that victim was also shot in the same apartment parking lot. Someone likely drove the victim home, where he told his mother he had been shot.
His injuries are non-life threatening, according to police. He was also taken to Mayo Clinic Saint Marys.
Police said this appears to be an isolated incident that does not present a risk to public safety.
Officers worked throughout the night on the case and have been executing search warrants. Police did not say if anyone is in custody related to the shooting.
Police also said the apartment's management and residents have been cooperative and helpful in the investigation.
